Scruggs & Funn added to Energy lineup

- Edmonton Energy continues to take shape

Edmonton - April 23, 2009 - With the season opener fast approaching, the 2009 edition of the Edmonton Energy continues to take shape.

Returning centre Lee Scruggs and top-level point guard Will Funn were among the players introduced today and general manager-coach Paul Sir confirmed that more significant signings are expected soon.

Funn, 27, spent three productive seasons with the Portland State Vikings and tied for the NCAA in assists in the 2004-05 season. The sociology major from San Bernardino is familiar with the International Basketball League, having led the IBL in assists with the Salem (Oregon) Stampeders.

"The biggest job for a point guard is to develop a great relationship with my team-mates," he said. "The 22-second clock is perfect for my style of game."

Scruggs, 30, was a major offensive force for Edmonton in the IBL last season. A graduate of the fabled Georgetown University basketball program, the 6-foot-11 pivot played with the Minot Sky Rockets of the ABA after completing the two-month season here.

"I always knew I wanted to come back," he said. "I like the way coach Sir handles the team and it was a pleasure to work with J.R. Patrick and Andrew Parker and so many other guys."
