BELLINGHAM, WA – The Energy lost to the defending IBL champion Bellingham Slam 121-115 in a hard-fought contest last night in Washington.
“It was by far the best game of the season,” said Head Coach & GM Paul Sir; “a very physical basketball game, with a disappointing result.” The Energy remains in first place in the IBL, with a 16-3 record.
The Energy was down 8 at halftime but came out with a strong focus to start the 2nd half, building to a 10 point lead. Bellingham battled back and the entire fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle. Bellingham hit 2 shots down the stretch and the Energy turned the ball over twice in critical situations.
Stephen Sir led the way with 34 points and 11 rebounds. Lee Scruggs had 23 and 9 while Will Funn had 19 points, 8 boards and 9 assists. JR Patrick and Skouson Harker had 14 and 15 points to round the scoring. Ryan Diggs led Bellingham with 25 to lead 7 Slam players in double figures.
The Energy play in VancouverBC tonight. An Energy win guarantees the #1 seed in the upcoming playoffs in Seattle starting Canada Day.
