The Energy promised to be an exciting, up tempo and skilled basketball club this season and after a 3 game sweep of the Tacoma Tide they have proven to be just that.

The team was led all weekend by Steve Sir who continued to shoot the 3 with the consistency that we have become accustomed to, but has also added a great mid range and post up game to his arsenal, making him even more of a headache for opponents to cover.  Benson Callier electrified fans on opening night with several spectacular plays and was the teams’ leading scorer over the weekend.  Benson also recorded a double double Sunday with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Dave Patten was relentless in going to the rim all weekend and finished a spectacular alley oop from Michael Linklater Sunday afternoon.  Michael brought an outstanding defensive effort every minute he was on the floor with several gritty steals from Antwan Williams, the Tide’s best player.  Troy Gottselig turned in a tough, determined inside game all weekend long and put himself in the right position to finish off great passes from his teammates.  Skouson Harker, after struggling on opening night, regained his form Saturday and Sunday turning in 2 solid performances.

Will Funn and Rashaun Broadus were there exciting, high paced selves.  Both had key steals, great finishes and set up teammates all weekend long.  Will flirted with a triple double Saturday with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists.

Lee Scruggs is looked solid all weekend.  Blocking shots, hitting shots and getting reounds, Lee had one of his best weekends of basketball in an Edmonton uniform.

Andrew Parker put down 2 unreal alley oops and continues to be a fan favorite!

The Energy now prepare to host the BC Titans for a 3 game set.

All games will be played at the University of Alberta Main Gym.  Friday night at 7 pm, Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday afternoon at 2 pm.

Come out and cheer on the Energy!
