The Edmonton Energy (12-5) will play host to the visiting Los Angeles Lightning (13-2) this upcoming weekend, June 25-27, in what will be the final three games of the regular season for the Energy.

The Lightning –who have won their past 7 games in a row– have been nothing short of a powerhouse team this year. The 2009 IBL Champions have won 13 out of their 15 regular season games and are looking to become the IBL’s first repeat champions.

This series will determine where the Energy fall in the playoff picture and therefore can be considered the most important 3-game set of the entire season! With three wins, the Energy will pull ahead of the division-leading Lightning in the IBL’s Continental division. If this occurs, the Energy will receive a very favourable seeding in the IBL’s playoff showdown, with the team having a first-round bye.

In order to have a successful weekend on the court, the Energy will need to have two things. Firstly, they need to tighten up their team defense, with an emphasis on shutting down the Lightning’s go-to-guy, Trayvon Lathan. Lathan is having a superb season in the IBL, averaging close to 27 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. And secondly, they need as much fan support as possible to fill the stands at NAIT and make as much noise as possible!

This will be a very intense, highly-entertaining series you will not want to miss.
